Step up for some new original blues cuts and old favourites with the Paul Black Band and Renovation Blues Band. This special evening features two Vancouver Island bands with new CDs and songs that will win spots on your playlist.

Paul Black's album Beautiful Sin is getting star reviews from Europe and Canada, earning him a Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Blues Album of the Year. Born and raised in Terrace BC, Paul received his first guitar at 16 but didn’t pick it up until he was 18 – and he hasn’t put it down since. Raised on gospel and country, Paul played in rock bands until the defining moment when his cousin gave him tickets to see Stevie Ray Vaughn. From then on, it was nothing but the blues.

Paul jumped onto the international scene, winning first place in the Song of the Year competition for his song “About You,” beating out thousands of entries for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. The competition is judged purely on songwriting and lyrics, with judges ranging from Capitol Records to Norah Jones and Universal Music manager Stephanie Wright, who has worked with Sting, U2, The Black Eyed Peas and Stevie Wonder. In addition to his own band, Paul has played with Sonny Landreth, Chilliwack, Kim Mitchell, Sass Jordan, Long John Baldry and Buckwheat Zydeco.

Renovation Blues Band hails from Vancouver Island and has been together since 2007. After 18 years of passionate festival and club appearances, they are releasing their latest studio album.

Nail It!the band’s 3rd release, features 16 electric and robust performances with seven original songs, including tributes to three of the band's favourites: Kim Wilson, Tiny Bradshaw and Memphis Slim.

The album features new takes on jump blues rhythms, lots of swingin’ guitar, piano, organ and sax solos and some rocking material, blended together in the RBB cauldron. This is some entertaining & killer-diller material.

SEATING IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. TICKET SALES WILL BE LIMITED TO THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SEATS.
