A master of electric and acoustic bass, Russell B. Jackson has a long and illustrious career spanning over five decades. “The Groove Guru” spent seven years in BB King’s band, as well as working and/or recording with Katie Webster, Lucky Peterson, Kenny Neal, Matt Guitar Murphy and Otis Clay and many others.

More recently, when not busy with his own band, Russell works with Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, and as a founding member of the newly reinvigorated Silent Partners (the world's greatest rhythm section), backed Diunna Greenleaf, Lurrie Bell, Joe Louis Walker and many more.

VBS is honoured to welcome Russell Jackson to the Wicket Hall stage on Saturday, October 19. Doors open at 6:30 and the show is at 7pm. SEATING IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

Opening for Russell is Paul Tobin. Transplanted from NL to all parts Canada, Paul Tobin began a musical career in 1979 that spans over 40 years. It has seen him touring coast to coast here in Canada and international destinations like Ireland & Mexico. Paul has graced the stage opening for the likes of David Wilcox, John Hammond, Gaye Delorme, Keb Mo, KD Lang, The Wailers and Randy Bachman. Paul toured extensively in western Canada as both a member of “Tobin, Grace & Read” and as a solo artist promoting his own three full-length albums.

Paul’s songwriting style ranges from East Coast roots to roots and blues with a twist of swampy country blues. His guitar tone has been described as “clean tone with dirty thoughts!” His vocals are on the deep and thick side, which, as a package, makes for an enjoyable and down-to-earth listening experience.
